I’ve put in Slideshare slides on Image Optimization for the Web from a presentation I did yesterday.
By optimization I don’t only mean reducing file size, but also colour precision, http requests and
optimized coding and deployment.
The slides also show and extensive benchmark of image production alternatives and compares file
sizes and quality.
Also, it was a happy surprise today that Slideshare sent me an email to tell me the presentation has been
editorially selected to be showcased on the design section today.
And if you like it, would you consider retweeting it?

The presentation’s design is very beautiful indeed.
Congratulations for being selected by Slideshare! They certainly know what they are doing ;-)
Hi Gui,bravo to you and well done with the slides. Checked out the flickr link and totally fall in love with your ’superstar’. Adorable.
Although we’re fascinated by the little character among the slides, still, no doubt, an informative performance. Thanks a lot for the PNG/GIF comparisons mostly.
@Anna – Thanks
@Ching Ya – The furry one is there to trick people into liking the presentation. If by slide 27 people were about to throw rotten tomatoes at me, they’ll change their mind and like the presentation altogether.
It seems to be working so far ;)
Hi GUI,bravo to you and well done
Quick question = Might be off topic but why did you choose to link to the slide as a new page rather than embedding it on your blog?
@Myron Tay – Excellent question! The answer is that a glitch occurred on the Slideshare site and the embedding links for my presentation were not showing. Between the option of linking and not blogging it, I’ve chosen to link.
But, hey, thanks for mentioning it, it reminded to go and check slideshare and it seems fixed now, I’ll try to embed it now.
Speaking about Image Optimization. I have discovered it just recently. OK, the pics in my blogs are a little blurry sometimes but you know what? By reducing their size I have got less slow queries in the server. Before i used to downlaod every kind of pic regardless their size but well, that was a mistake as I found out some months ago when my blog was deactivated for three hours for taking too many resources!
Nice work Guilherme
the slid is simply great and very informative, stumbling it now :)
