And perhaps the best example of it is with a more extreme example: Have you wonder that there is a very, VERY simple solution to solve the problem of drug trafficking? Yes, people just have to stop buying them. Not easy to implement, though, but shows the power buying has. It's more powerful than politics, police enforcement and publicity together. It is, yes.

Since our forum conversation this afternoon about the difficulty of tackling this topic, I've been thinking more about this - and thinking much along those lines. It's like the way we gnash our teeth about lead-painted toys coming out of China, and the terrible working conditions, near slavery, in too many offshore garment factories: why do these things happen? Because we, the relatively wealthy of the world, are greedy for more and more stuff at lower and lower prices. A donation to a good cause is a bandaid by comparison to the power of our purchasing decisions, really, isn't it?
